
Karen tossed and turned restlessly in her bed. Unable to sleep for the third night in a row, she sat up in bed and clapped her hands twice. The room filled with light making Karen blink her eyes until they adjusted to the light. Sitting up in her bed now with the lights on depressed her. Confirming the fact that her mind struggled to forget while trying to sleep. She was back in Washington D. C.
Karen always felt like a prisoner when she was at home. Her father being U.S. senator never aloud her to go out. She had to always be on guard for nosey reporters and pesky photographers. The senator always made her remember, all they needed was a picture and they could write anything they want. That’s why they always sent her away to go to school. After she graduated her parents then sent her to Europe for the summer. Back at home now, the excitement of this last summer seemed quite distant.
